A world in yellow and gray
Pantone Color Institute is the chromatic authority that each year indicates which hue will be the reference point for many sectors, from design to fashion to industry. Last year, the choice was Classic Blue, a sign of hope and motivation for the future: the trend of 2020 has, however, overturned any forecast for the following months. For 2021, therefore, Pantone has chosen to propose a combination of colors: a gray, PANTONE 17-5104, and a yellow, PANTONE 13-0647.
Why this choice?
Gray, Ultimate Gray, and yellow, Illuminating, are presented by Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute as bearers of “a message of positivity supported by a great fortress. Concrete and firm, yet warm and optimistic at the same time, this color combination gives us a sense of resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and relieved; it is something essential for the human mind. ” (source pantone.com)
What do the two colors represent?
“PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright, cheerful yellow that shines with vibrancy, a warm hue imbued with the power of the sun. PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray is a reminder of solid and reliable elements that last over time and offer a solid foundation. ” A combination of liveliness and solidity that we hope will be the basis for this new year.
